The 2025 Report Card for America’s Infrastructure is here!
America's infrastructure isn't making the honor roll.
UFI Steering Committee partners, American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) released their highly anticipated 2025 Report Card for America's Infrastructure today, awarding our nation's infrastructure a C. Despite being the highest grade ASCE has ever given, it still isn’t a report card you’d be proud to bring home.
The ASCE Report Card for America's Infrastructure provides a snapshot of how our infrastructure systems — highways, streets, public buildings, mass transit, ports, airports, inland waterways, water systems, waste facilities, the electric grid, broadband networks, dams, levees, and other public and private facilities — are faring and offers recommendations for improving the performance of each category
Almost half of the 18 assessed categories saw increased grades in the 2025 Report Card following historic investments through the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA) and the Inflation Reduction Act. However, the Report Card makes it clear that these investments are only a down payment on America's infrastructure needs, which will continue to grow as infrastructure ages, demands on infrastructure systems increase, and natural disasters and extreme weather cause damage in communities across the country. Read the full ASCE Report Card.
It is critical that we continue the positive momentum created by the IIJA with substantive and well-funded surface transportation bill. In the coming days, UFI will roll out our plans for Infrastructure Week 2025 that will amplify this top-line message and highlight how recent historic infrastructure investments have already improved safety, created jobs, and grown the economy in communities across the country.
We hope you will join us and the entire UFI network as we continue efforts to raise the grade.
